Responsible Cafes

Hornsby Shire Council has partnered with Responsible Cafes to support waste-wise coffee lovers to find sustainable local businesses. Responsible Cafes is an accreditation system for cafes that engage in waste reduction activities, for example providing an incentive for customers who bring reusable cups, recycling food waste or reducing single-use plastics.

Responsible Cafes is a community driven organisation working with businesses since 2013. Featured on the ABC's War on Waste program, they now have over 4000 participating cafes who each save an average of 35 disposable cups from landfill daily. Their mission is to support the hospitality industry with the tools and platform to reduce their waste and ecological footprint.
