Remember: Neighbourhood Safer Places are a place of last resort during a bush fire emergency. They are to be used when all other options in your bush fire survival plan can't be put into action safely. View RFS website for more information.
Volunteer in your community
Volunteering with an emergency service is a great way to give back to your community and provide an excellent opportunity to share knowledge, learn new skills and meet new people from diverse backgrounds.
Emergency service volunteering is open to a wide range of people within a variety of roles in areas covering both operational and administration areas.
Join the NSW Rural Fire Service
Firefighting, community engagement, catering, communications and administration are just a few of the roles available to volunteer in the NSW RFS. Please contact your local brigade or the NSW RFS website for more information.
Join the NSW State Emergency Service
There are a number of ways you can Volunteer with the NSW SES, and support your community during times of severe weather.
Join a Community Fire Unit Program
As a local Volunteer CFU member, you and your local team will be supported by Fire and Rescue NSW to enhance your safety and resilience to bush fires.
