Road work on Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai Road, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street
Transport for NSW will carry out essential maintenance work on Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai Road, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street between Sunday 1 December 2024 and late April 2025.
What work are we doing?
The work will involve replacing sections of asphalt and repainting road markings at six locations across Wisemans Ferry Road, Cattai Road, Eldon Street and Bathurst Street.
When will we be working?
We will be on site from Sunday 24 November 2024 until late April 2025, weather permitting. We will work up to five nights a week from Sunday to Thursday, between the hours of 8pm and 5am.
We will not work on Friday or Saturday nights, or on public holidays. There will be no work over the Christmas holiday period between Friday 20 December 2024 and Friday 10 January 2025. We will recommence work in 2025 from Sunday 12 January, weather permitting.
What will this mean for you and how will we manage it?
Our work needs to be carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic and reduce safety risks to our workers, pedestrians and motorists. It may be noisy at times, but we will do everything we can to minimise our impacts, including:
- turning off equipment and vehicles when they are not in use
- resurfacing progressively along the road to avoid impacting the same area each night.
Line marking will also be carried out at night, however we do not expect this work to be noisy.
Traffic changes and detours
As part of this work, we will need to close the road between Glebe Road, Pitt Town and Old Northern Road, Maroota.
Northbound traffic will need to detour via: Pitt Town Road, Windsor Road, Showground Road, Pennant Street and Old Northern Road.
Southbound traffic will need to detour via: Old Northern Road, Pennant Street, Showground Road, Windsor Road and Pitt Town Road.
Please allow up to one hour of additional travel time when planning your trip.
Emergency vehicles access will be maintained at all times.
Residential access
Access to properties between Glebe Road, Pitt Town and 1407 Wisemans Ferry Road, Maroota will be maintained under the direction of traffic controllers.
Residents may experience delays of up to 30 minutes while we arrange safe travel through the work area.
When resurfacing directly in front of side streets such as Halcrow’s Road or Cliftonville Road, access will not always be possible as the road surface will be unsuitable to drive on. We recommend accessing the road via the closure points at Glebe Road or Old Northern Road only.
