Speed reductions in the Thornleigh, Normanhurst and Hornsby area

Transport for NSW is reducing speed limits in some areas to provide a safer road environment for pedestrians and other road users. Following a request from Hornsby Shire Council, the speed along Sefton Road, Milson Parade, Malsbury Road, Clarke Road and College Crescent in the suburbs of Thornleigh, Normanhurst and Hornsby will be reduced from 60km/h to 50km/h. A recent safety review in this area revealed 21 crashes resulting in 20 injuries had occurred between 2019 and 2023. As a result of the review and Council feedback, Transport is reducing the speed limit along these regional roads to 50 km/h to improve safety and bring the roads in line with the NSW Speed Zoning Standards.

Work includes:

  • removing the 60km/h signs and installing new 50km/h signs
  • painting the new speeds onto the road in two locations.
