Ron Payne Park Oval Upgrade Works
Ron Payne Park oval upgrade works are now complete.
Background
In 2022, to guide the facility upgrades at Ron Payne Park, Council created landscape concept plan for the park. Key elements of the concept plan include:
- New drainage and irrigation work of the oval
- A new Amenities Building
- Accessible pathway works connecting entry to playground and new amenities building.
- Providing communal spaces and additional seating for park users.
- A new kerbed carpark and sandstone terrace seating, both are subject to funding.

The Ron Payne Park upgrade is proudly funded by the NSW State Government Funding and Hornsby Shire Council.

Future Planned Works
Installation of the tertiary drainage network (collector drainage lines) is pending, with works scheduled in sports season changeover in September 2025, with temporary oval closure for the duration of the works.
Update – April 2025
Ron Payne Park oval upgrade works are now complete.
Oval Upgrade
The completed works include;
- Oval grading and resurfacing
- Irrigation and drainage network
- High quality sports Turf “Tahoma 31” used for entire sportsfield for first time in the Shire
- New synthetic cricket wicket
- Tiered sandstone block seating
- New fencing along north and east side
Update – March 2024
In March 2024, the new amenities building at Ron Payne Park was completed.
The new amenities building includes female friendly change rooms, canteen, storerooms, enhanced public toilets and is universally accessible. The building is using a solar hot water system and has storage tanks for rainwater reuse.
Along with new building improvements to the park have included upgrades to paths, carpark and drainage.
