Quarter Sessions Road Viewing Platform and Landscaping Works
This project was completed and open to the public in December 2022.
Following the outcome of consultation with the local community and traditional owners, Council is undertaking to upgrade the viewing platform and landscaping works adjacent the Quarter Sessions Road Engraving Site (also known as ‘Blackfellows Head’), as identified in Councils Walking and Cycling Strategy. By formalising the site and making the site safer, more inclusive and improving access for a wider demographic of users, the historic positive use of the site may continue for the benefit of local residents and the wider community.
Works include:
- Deco granite pathway (gold) with Coreten steel edging
- Minor revegetation with native ground covers and small native shrubs
- 3 x sandstone logs for seating
- Sandstone block path edging
- Signage renewal and installation of hazard and warning regulatory signs
- Continued fencing surrounding the Aboriginal engraving site
- Split level viewing platform 20m2
Works were scheduled to be undertaken in 2 stages:
- Stage 1: June 2022: Landscaping works including pathways and sandstone blocks.
- Stage 2: September 2022: Viewing platform installation, signage and final landscaping
