Hornsby Shire Council is pleased to announce that submissions are again open for its Community Event Grants Program, with $60,000 on offer for events in the local community.

Not-for-profit organisations located within the Hornsby Shire Local Government Area (LGA) are encouraged to apply for funding that will be made available to support local community events.

The Community Event Grants Program aims to promote active participation of residents in community initiatives, and to encourage community-based organisations to develop and run sustainable events in the Shire.

Hornsby Shire Council Mayor Warren Waddell said Council is committed to supporting local events that help foster community engagement and connectedness.

“I’m thrilled that Council is able to offer support to not-for-profit and community organisations to develop and run sustainable events,” said Mayor Waddell.

“Local not-for-profits play a big role in enriching Hornsby Shire’s atmosphere and fostering inclusion and resilience. I encourage all eligible local organisations to take advantage of the financial assistance on offer.”

$42,000 is available through a Community Event Grant funding pool where cash funding, in-kind support and sponsorship is available up to a total value of $7,000 per annum per successful applicant organisation. $18,000 is available through a Place Activation Grant Funding pool for $3,000 per successful applicant organisation. These grants are designed to be one-off only. Events must be held between 1 January and 31 December 2025.

Previous recipients of the Community Grants Program include Hornsby Relay For Life, Berowra Fauna Fair and Chinese Australia Services Society Migrants Information Day.

The closing date for applications is Sunday, 10 November at 5pm.
