Hornsby Leisure Pool closed for repair

Publish date:

Due to unexpected repairs the leisure pool at Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre will close today for an undetermined period of time.

Cracks have been found in some of the tiles.

The other pools remain open and steps will be taken to limit the inconvenience caused, including extending the hours of the waterslide.

“The Aquatic Centre is among Council’s most popular assets and we deeply regret anything that limits its value to the community,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock said.

“However, safety must always be our absolute top priority and we need to fix this without delay.

“We are currently investigating what work will be required and how long it will take.

“We guarantee we are moving as quickly as possible to get the pool re-opened.”

The water slide will now operate in the morning as well as the afternoon on weekdays, while its advertised weekend hours will not change.

Swimming lessons will continue as normal, with lessons that take place in the leisure pool transferred to the 25-metre pool.

The 25-metre pool will also be available for lap swimming and gentle exercise at various times throughout the week. Visit hornsby.nsw.gov.au/halc to see the times.

“This is obviously not an ideal situation and we apologise for any inconvenience,” Mayor Ruddock said.

“We greatly appreciate the community’s patience as we work towards getting the Aquatic Centre back to its full capacity.”

Updates will be posted on hornsby.nsw.gov.au/halc as further information becomes available.
