Upgrade for McKell park steps and path
Brooklyn residents and visitors can more easily access the stunning views at McKell Park thanks to an upgrade of the park’s path and steps.
“Hornsby Shire Council wanted to enhance the area and highlight the value of the natural environment in Brooklyn,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock said.
“The upgrade gives the park a completely new look, while the quality materials and detailed workmanship will mean this track will outlive us all.”
The path had become unsightly and – despite numerous repairs – tree roots regularly lifted up the surface, causing it to crack and become uneven.
“Instead of just repairing the track, we’ve now removed all of the old surfaces and replaced them with solid sandstone steps and landings,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Philipp Ruddock said.
The width of the path has also has been increased, allowing better access between the playground and upper McKell Park.
Hornsby Shire Council has invested more than $120,000 to improve the safety and aesthetics of the McKell Park track.
