Pennant Hills to become safer for pedestrians

Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock expressed gratitude for the considerable investment.

“This is a significant sum of money to help make our residents safer in their town centre and we are very pleased,” Mayor Ruddock said.

“The money will be used to install a range of measures designed to slow traffic, making it safer for motorists and pedestrians.”

The speed limit will be reduced to 40 kilometres per hour, while other steps will be taken to create a low-speed environment.

“A good example of what is being proposed can be seen on the west side of Hornsby, where similar measures were carried out on Peats Ferry Road,” Mayor Ruddock said.

“A great side benefit will be the opportunity, further down the track, for Council to plant trees and gardens that will give the town centre a much more inviting atmosphere.”

The exact details of the work have not been confirmed and will only be finalised after consultation with local residents and other stakeholders.

There will be no impact to Pennant Hills Road or other state roads.

Consultation is planned to take place later this year, with work expected to occur in the first half of 2020.
