Have your say on Hornsby Shire's future
Hornsby Shire Council has placed three documents on public exhibition that will have a significant impact on the Shire’s future development.
The Local Strategic Planning Statement, the Heritage Action Plan 2019 and the Hornsby Town Centre Vision will all be on exhibition until October.
Hornsby Shire Mayor Philip Ruddock is urging all residents to look at the documents and provide feedback.
“These are crucial roadmaps that will guide Council’s planning over coming decades,” Mayor Ruddock said.
“Their importance cannot possibly be overstated and we are eager for residents to play an active role in shaping the future of our community.
“The Local Strategic Planning Statement is particularly important and we especially want to hear people’s thoughts about it.
“It is crucial that we get that document exactly correct and we need community input to ensure that we do.”
The Local Strategic Planning Statement sets out a 20-year vision for land use in the local area, with a particular focus on how growth and change will be managed.
The Heritage Action Plan aims to ensure that Council has the best possible management of our Shire’s significant natural, historical and Indigenous heritage.
The Hornsby Town Centre Vision outlines Council’s ambitions for our Shire’s hub, carefully balancing commercial, residential, cultural and environmental needs.
“This will set the tone of planning and development for at least the next generation,” Mayor Ruddock said.
“We are determined to get as much public input as possible and are undertaking a major community consultation program, far beyond what most councils are doing with similar plans.
“If you want to have your say on the future of Hornsby Shire, this is going to be your best chance.”
