Olivia Simons was first elected as Councillor for Ward A in 2024. As a resident of Brooklyn and former equestrian enthusiast, Olivia has a strong affinity with both river and rural communities, and a keen interest in preserving the unique ecologies, heritage and character of the Shire.
Priorities
- Getting to better know our diverse village, river and rural communities and current issues
- Protective and regenerative care for our precious bushland, rural lands, waterways and parklands
- Increased support for community based action and activities
- Curbing overdevelopment
- Ensuring appropriate development includes affordable housing, provides new and enhanced community assets and is served by increased infrastructure and services.
Background
- A career in enterprise Information Technology management has equipped Olivia with the ability to plan strategically, evaluate new opportunities, adapt and innovate
- With two decades in local and state government, she brings strong domain knowledge, as well as experience advocating across jurisdictions to deliver on community needs
- Olivia is also a keen bush regenerator, a native plant enthusiast, and a skilled florist.
