International Women’s Day – Morning Tea and Local History Talk
Tuesday 8 March, 10.30am-12pm
Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre, 25 Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby
- 10.30am – Welcome, Refreshments Provided via a Coffee Van on site – providing free coffee/tea/hot chocolate and sweets
- 10.30am-11am - Dining Room and Drawing Room will be open for networking, mingling and discussion
- 11am – Local History Discussion – Women in Hornsby Shire’s History. Dramatic reading of excerpts from Women of Hornsby Shire, including by author Penny Becchio, followed by discussion and a book giveaway
- 11.30am/11.45am – Artist Talk with Rona Sissons (Wallarobba Local Outstanding Artist ) about her works being installed at WACC, ahead of her exhibition Rats and Other Rubbish running from 11-19 March.

Alone, Together: Senior Photography Exhibition

The pandemic has had a profound effect on all aspects of society. To keep seniors connected during the 2021 lockdown period, Council ran a series on online photography workshops, in which the participants were asked to consider what the pandemic meant to them and share their ideas through the medium of photography.

The Riverboat Postman Tour
Friday 25 March, 10am-1pm
As part of Hello Hornsby and in honour of Seniors Week 2022, we are pleased to invite Seniors aged 60+ to join us on The Riverboat Postman Tour for a wonderful day out.
The Riverboat Postman Tour is a 3-hour trip along the Hawkesbury River, starting and ending in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is easily accessible by train with Hawkesbury River Station adjacent to the Wharf. For anyone wishing to travel by train as a group, Council Staff will travel via Hornsby Station up to Brooklyn – feel free to join them. Details will be sent to all ticket holders.
The Riverboat Postman Tour includes morning tea at departure and a Ploughman’s-style lunch at midday. Common dietary requirements can be catered for.
COVID-19 regulations are in place and all boat crew and Council staff are double vaccinated. All ticket holders will need to show proof of double vaccination as well.
Cost: Free.
Booking: Tickets are limited and bookings are essential.
Gentle Reminder: Tickets are open to residents of Hornsby Shire, aged 60+, who are double vaccinated.

Supporting men, women & families who are experiencing, or are at risk of homelessness

Dom's Place shares its name and values with our friend Dom, a delightful young man who was involved with CatholicCare until his passing in 2021. It operates as a 'one-stop-shop,' an inclusive space where people can feel safe and connected.
Someone might pop in to get a meal, wash their clothes and chat with a social worker to address housing needs. A vulnerable young person could come and play a game of pool with their friends. Another might access cooking classes and connect with volunteer and employment pathways. It’s a place for people to come together and hang out, reducing isolation and disconnection from community.
Access a range of supports in one place including housing services, counselling and mental health supports, AOD supports, financial and medical services, and social activities to connect you to community.
